About this event
SF Tech Week — what to expect
SF Tech Week, organized by a16z, is a week of hundreds of decentralized AI and tech events across San Francisco. The 2026 edition runs October 5–11.
Format is fundamentally different from a single conference — there is no single venue or schedule. Founders, VCs, AI companies, and operators host their own sessions, dinners, demos, and parties across the city.
The highest-density AI networking week of the year in SF. Useful for everyone, but requires deliberate planning to extract value.
Why it matters for Robot.com
Three reasons to track this event
-
Highest-density founder network access
Founders, operators, and VCs concentrate in SF this week. A single well-planned week can outproduce a quarter of normal networking.
-
Recruiting environment is unmatched
AI engineers are out at events every night. The conversion rate on recruiting conversations is much higher than at any single conference.
-
Market scan in 5 days
Walking through dozens of AI startup demos in a week is the fastest way to see what's actually being built versus what's marketing.
How to work the show
A playbook for the team on the ground
- Pre-plan the week. Identify 15-20 must-attend events from the public calendar.
- Host at least one own event — dinner, demo, or roundtable — to anchor your week.
- Filter aggressively. Skip the generic 'AI meetup' events unless the audience is specifically relevant.
